Unique event for young people in Brighton & Hove
Our Future City is very pleased to be working in partnership with Long Run Works, Digitalme and The RSA to provide a unique, one-off event to help young people discover how to get more out of life in Brighton & Hove.
Date: Thur 17 August
Time: 2.00pm – 5.00pm
Venue: The Basement, 24 Kensington St, Brighton, BN1 4AJ
Tickets: Free but booking essential via 1UP eventbrite
Show your skills and discover new passions. Whether you’re into music, gaming, making things, writing, the environment, sport or art - learn how to take your game to the next level!
1UP will see a host of local organisations come together under one roof:
AudioActive, Brighton & Hove Impetus, Brighton Peace & Environment Centre, Exploring Senses, Health Bar, Little Green Pig, The Marlborough Theatre, Pop Up Pottery, Rhythmix, Right There, Starr Trust, StencilMoose, and Sussex Wildlife Trust.
Fancy becoming a live-music ambassador? A park ranger? Or a writer? 1UP is the place to find out where to start.
Walk through a Virtual Reality Minecraft version of Brighton and use it to tell us how and where you get creative and where you would like to get more out of life in Brighton.
There’s a reason we’re doing this. Cities of Learning is an idea that has been popular with young people in the USA, so we’re running this event to see if something similar could offer young people more opportunities in Brighton & Hove.
The idea behind Cities of Learning is to give young people digital ‘badges’ for the skills they learn outside of the classroom. These badges can be shared on social media including LinkedIn, where they can be seen by potential employers. Each badge contains all the evidence of what was done to earn it.
Sign up to attend 1UP Brighton.

1UP is brought to you by Long Run Works who are also looking for event ambassadors to help promote 1UP amongst their friends and on social media. If you’re interested in being an event ambassador, please contact Leah Dennison via leah@longrun.works for more information.
